Jersey City Dispatcher Intentionally Hit Man With Vehicle After Altercation: Prosecutor

A 37-year-old Jersey City woman was arrested and charged with intentionally striking a pedestrian in Bayonne on Sunday, Oct. 13, authorities said.

At 12:20 a.m., Bayonne police found a man with life-threatening injuries after he was struck by a vehicle at Route 440 and 22nd Street, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. The man was transported to a nearby hospital, where he remains in critical condition, Suarez said.

Kalimah Toon had gotten into an altercation with the victim on the shoulder of Route 440, Suarez said. Toon then entered a Ford Escape and intentionally struck the victim with the vehicle, Suarez said. The victim and Toon are known to one another, Suarez said. Toon is employed as a public safety dispatcher in Jersey City, Suarez said.

Toon is charged with aggravated assault resulting in serious bodily injury, possession of a weapon, motor vehicle, for unlawful purpose and other weapons offenses.
